WILLIAM JACOB LITTLE AWARD

The Trustees of The Hamilton Holt Kiwanis Scholarship Fund established the WILLIAM JACOB LITTLE AWARD in March 2002 to provide individuals or groups of individuals an opportunity to especially honor, or memorialize, persons who have in some way distinguished themselves.

The award is named for Dr. William Jacob Little, a Charter Member of the Kiwanis Club of Macon, who is considered the Father of the current scholarship fund. In July 1923, after working many months to raise money for a Fund, he presented the idea to the Club and it was approved by the then Board of Directors. From this start it has evolved into the current Hamilton Holt Kiwanis Scholarship Fund.

The first Award was presented to Reginald Trice in April 2002. Since that time nine other Awards have been presented to distinguished persons- Robert M. Brambila (posthumously), James L. Gibson, Milton B. Pope, Joseph H. Jones, Edgar B. Gostin (posthumously), Shirley W. Allen, the Honorable Robert L. (Bob) Smith (posthumously), Frank E. Craven, and Richard B. Domingos.

The Award as shown here is in the form of a brass disc with the face and reverse appropriately engraved.

Upon receipt of the Award, the name of the recipient is entered upon our permanent recognition Board displayed permanently in our meeting room.
